Structural steel fabrication integrated into the Forever Valentino exhibition architecture.

Luxury exhibitions demand an exceptional level of precision because architecture, display systems, structure, lighting and scenic finish all contribute to how the collection is experienced. For the Forever Valentino Exhibition at M7 in Doha, Evolution Scenic collaborated with Kennedy London to fabricate and install a complex series of scenic environments celebrating Valentino Garavani’s career and the architectural influence of Rome.

The project combined multi-room exhibition fabrication, large-scale architectural structures, sculptural reproductions, bespoke display systems, illuminated ceiling treatments, custom signage and engineered steelwork. Delivery also required fabrication drawings, structural calculations and the transport of 15 trucks of scenic materials from the UAE to Qatar.

The Challenge

The exhibition required a series of highly detailed spaces capable of presenting Valentino’s collections within an immersive architectural narrative inspired by Rome.

Each room needed to function as part of a continuous visitor journey while also providing a distinct setting for curated pieces. The scenic package ranged from refined display joinery and suspended signage to major architectural features and heavy structural steelwork.

A key technical challenge was the fabrication of a 6-ton Gasometer-inspired steel structure, which required detailed fabrication drawings and structural calculations before manufacture and installation.

The project also involved significant cross-border logistics, with 15 trucks of fabricated scenic materials transported from the UAE to Qatar. This required careful coordination between workshop production, packing, transport and on-site installation.

The Solution

Evolution Scenic delivered a broad fabrication and installation package across the exhibition’s multiple rooms and display environments.

A large Colosseum-inspired structure was fabricated and installed as one of the exhibition’s principal architectural features, providing a dramatic environment for the presentation of Valentino’s collections.

For the Gasometer-inspired installation, Evolution Scenic developed fabrication drawings and structural calculations to support the manufacture of the 6-ton steel structure. The scale and weight of the installation required scenic fabrication to be closely integrated with structural engineering and installation planning.

The exhibition also featured sculptural reproductions of Mitoraj works. These three-dimensional forms were recreated using fibre tissue material and mounted on MDF plinths, providing sculptural focal points within the visitor journey.

Custom wooden display shelves were fabricated with a powder-coated finish to create precise, durable presentation surfaces for curated pieces.

Overhead, a bespoke ceiling installation combined metal framing and polycarbonate sheets with DC 24V multicoloured LED lighting and backlit printed fabric. The resulting treatment created a dramatic sky-like effect and introduced another immersive layer to the exhibition environment.

Multi-coloured acrylic signage and suspended scenic elements were also fabricated, with steel wire ropes used to support selected installations. Across the wider exhibition, numerous bespoke exhibit and display spaces were constructed to meet the detailed requirements of the overall design.

Outcome

The completed Forever Valentino Exhibition brought together architecture, sculpture, display fabrication, structural engineering and lighting within a highly controlled series of exhibition environments.

Large-scale features such as the Colosseum-inspired installation and 6-ton Gasometer structure established the architectural character of the exhibition, while sculptural reproductions, bespoke shelving, signage and illuminated ceiling treatments provided the detailed layers required for a luxury fashion presentation.

The project demonstrates Evolution Scenic’s ability to deliver complex international exhibition builds where detailed scenic craftsmanship must operate alongside structural engineering, precision display fabrication and major logistics. The movement of 15 trucks of fabricated materials from the UAE to Qatar also illustrates the scale of coordination required to translate a detailed exhibition design into a completed visitor environment across borders.
