EY Stand at COP28 – Sustainable Exhibition Stand Fabrication, Dubai (2023)
Exhibition stands designed for international conferences must combine a strong visual identity with practical functionality, efficient installation and a clear response to the event’s wider objectives. For EY’s presence at COP28, Evolution Scenic delivered a sustainable exhibition environment at Expo City Dubai that reflected the organisation’s commitment to environmental responsibility.
The 6m × 6m stand combined modular scenic construction with recyclable and reusable materials, integrated presentation technology and an immersive multi-screen room. Delivered within a tight timeframe, the project brought scenic fabrication and technical systems together to create an engaging environment for presentations, digital content and visitor interaction.
The Challenge
The stand needed to communicate EY’s environmental commitments while meeting the aesthetic and functional requirements of a high-profile international conference. Sustainability therefore needed to influence the physical construction of the stand rather than simply appear within its messaging.
The project also had to be completed within a tight programme. Scenic fabrication, specialist finishes, lighting, audio, digital signage and immersive content systems all needed to be coordinated into one integrated environment.
Access to Expo City during COP28 required careful logistical planning and the necessary permits. The stand’s modular components also needed to support efficient assembly while reducing waste and allowing materials to be reused or recycled after the event.
The Solution
Evolution developed the concept and design for the stand following research into sustainable materials and their potential reuse or recycling after the event. Evolution Scenic then fabricated the exhibition structure using an interlocking 6m × 6m steel frame and modular components designed to support efficient assembly.
Specialist cork sheets, rubber sheets and shark-tooth fabric were applied across selected wall surfaces. These materials contributed to the stand’s visual and tactile character while supporting the project’s wider sustainability objectives.
A multi-screen immersive room formed a central part of the visitor experience. Environmental video content was controlled using Ventuz technology and supported by L-Acoustics audio, creating a coordinated audiovisual environment within the stand.
Digital signage and presentation screens were integrated into the scenic design. Custom lighting was provided around the stand perimeter and main speech area, while audio systems supported ambient music, presentations and the immersive room.
The Evolution team also managed project logistics and secured the permits required for access to Expo City during COP28, supporting the stand’s delivery and installation within the available timeframe.
