Heriot-Watt University Climate Hub – COP28 Scenic Design & Venue Transformation, Dubai (2023)
Climate-focused forums require event environments that support serious international dialogue while remaining welcoming, professional and visually coherent. For Heriot-Watt University’s Climate Hub in Dubai, Evolution supported a two-week COP28-affiliated initiative created to encourage discussion, collaboration and partnerships around global climate action.
Launched in late November 2023, the Climate Hub welcomed an international audience and included the attendance of His Majesty King Charles III. Evolution’s role included creative design, scenic elements, furniture, backdrops, signage, decorative features and branded collateral, helping transform the venue into a cohesive environment suited to the profile and purpose of the programme.
The Challenge
The Climate Hub needed to function as a credible and engaging platform for international climate dialogue over a two-week period.
The environment had to support discussions, meetings and stakeholder engagement while maintaining a professional appearance appropriate to a COP28-affiliated initiative and a high-profile audience.
The scenic treatment also needed to communicate the identity of the Climate Hub clearly without overwhelming the content or conversations taking place within it.
In addition to the physical venue environment, collateral and branding materials had to work consistently across multiple guest touchpoints.
The Solution
Evolution developed and delivered a coordinated package of scenic, furniture and branded elements to transform the venue.
Backdrops, signage and decorative components were introduced throughout the space to create a consistent visual language and strengthen the identity of the Climate Hub.
Furniture was selected and provided to support the functional requirements of the programme while contributing to a polished and welcoming environment for attendees.
Creative design was applied across the wider setup to ensure that scenic elements, furniture and branding worked together as a single event environment.
Evolution also designed and produced supporting collateral, including brochures, banners and additional branding elements, extending the event identity beyond the principal scenic installations.
The venue setup and operational delivery were coordinated to meet the standards required for a high-profile COP28-affiliated programme.
