    Fabricating a Modular Ramadan Environment for Four Seasons Jumeirah Beach


    For Ramadan 2022, Evolution Scenic manufactured and installed a temporary scenic environment at SUQ Restaurant within Four Seasons Resort Dubai at Jumeirah Beach. The project introduced a series of decorative architectural features throughout the restaurant, including six principal mashrabiya-style entrance arches, additional walkway arches, CNC-routed geometric screens, integrated lighting, fairy lights and branded scenic elements.


    Evolution Scenic also constructed a temporary stage above the restaurant’s existing water fountain. The scenic package was manufactured from completed client drawings. Evolution Scenic’s responsibility was therefore centred on translating the supplied design into practical workshop-built structures that could be transported, installed and later removed without becoming permanent parts of the venue.


    The complete installation was delivered in one day. Manufacturing from completed client drawings requires more than reproducing the visible outline of a design. The supplied forms need to be interpreted as physical assemblies. Sheet materials, framing, panel divisions, joints, access points and temporary fixing locations all need to work together without changing the intended visual proportions.


    For the Four Seasons Ramadan installation, this process centred on a repeated mashrabiya arch system. The six principal arches shared a common architectural language but were positioned within different existing openings. Additional walkway arches extended the same treatment through other areas of the restaurant.


    The design used a rectangular outer frame containing geometric lattice panels and a central scalloped opening. The layered arch profiles created depth around the passageway, while the surrounding routed screens produced a detailed patterned surface. The challenge was to retain this visual complexity while manufacturing the features as modular temporary scenery.

    Manufacturing the Six Principal Arches


    Evolution Scenic fabricated six decorative entrance arches. The arches were manufactured from MR MDF, plywood and timber framing. These materials provided the combination of shaped scenic surfaces, structural support and workshop workability required for the modular assemblies.


    Each unit was constructed as a freestanding scenic feature. The timber frame established the overall geometry of the unit and supported the sheet-material surfaces. Layered sections formed the scalloped inner arch, while the CNC-routed screen panels completed the outer decorative field.


    The individual components needed to align accurately so that the arch appeared as one complete architectural feature rather than a collection of separate panels. Particular attention was required where the curved opening met the surrounding geometric lattice. Uneven spacing or inconsistent borders would have been visible immediately within the highly ordered pattern. The completed units were temporarily secured at the venue openings. This allowed them to remain stable during use while preserving their status as removable scenic structures.


    The mashrabiya-style screen panels were manufactured using CNC routing. CNC production allowed the repeated geometric pattern to be transferred accurately from the design information to the sheet material. The process was suited to the detailed network of openings visible across the screen surfaces. Consistent cutting helped maintain the rhythm of the design across multiple panels and arch assemblies.


    The routed pattern needed to achieve two objectives. First, it had to reproduce the intended decorative appearance. The geometry needed to remain sharp and balanced at close viewing distances within the restaurant. Second, each routed sheet needed to retain enough continuous material to remain practical as a scenic panel. The openings could not weaken the piece to the point that it became difficult to transport or install.


    Panel edges, pattern terminations and connections to the surrounding frames therefore formed an important part of the manufacturing process. Once incorporated into the completed arch units, the routed panels created a layered surface through which the internal lighting could remain visible.

    Creating Depth Through Layered Scenic Joinery


    The entrance features were not flat graphic backdrops. Multiple scenic layers were used to build depth around the openings. The rectangular outer frame defined the full footprint of each installation. Geometric screen panels occupied the spaces around the doorway, while the shaped inner sections formed the scalloped arch profile. Repeated curved layers projected into the opening, giving the entrance a more substantial architectural appearance. This construction method allowed a relatively shallow temporary unit to create the impression of a deeper built form.


    The visible result depended on accurate scenic joinery. Curved profiles had to remain consistent from one side of the arch to the other, and the decorative layers needed to meet without distracting gaps or misalignment. The images from the completed project show the scalloped frames positioned within geometric screen surrounds, with illumination visible through the lower lattice panels.



    Additional arches were installed along the restaurant’s walkways. These features carried the principal mashrabiya language beyond the main entrances and created repetition throughout the temporary environment. Using a consistent family of arch profiles and geometric screens helped connect separate areas of the venue without relying on a single large scenic structure.


    The walkway units also needed to preserve the restaurant’s circulation routes. Their size and position were therefore governed by the existing openings and available floor area. The modular construction allowed each feature to be placed within the venue while maintaining access through the centre of the arch. The additional units demonstrated how one scenic design system could be adapted across multiple architectural conditions.

    Preparing for a One-Day Installation


    The complete installation was delivered in one day. A programme of this duration places most of the manufacturing responsibility in the workshop. The arches could not be fabricated from raw material inside the restaurant. They needed to arrive as prepared modular units requiring only controlled assembly, placement, temporary fixing and final lighting work. The same principle applied to the fountain stage. Its timber substructure needed to be prepared so that the platform could be assembled efficiently around the existing feature.


    Evolution Scenic delivered the scenic lighting associated with the installation. The principal arches incorporated internal upright lighting, positioned within the lower sections of the decorative assemblies.


    The lights illuminated the routed openings and produced a visible glow through the geometric panels. This strengthened the patterned surfaces and emphasised the separation between the outer screens and the inner arch profiles. Lighting was therefore part of the physical scenic composition. The units needed to accommodate the lights, cable routes and connection points without exposing unnecessary technical components within the finished restaurant environment.


    Fairy lights were installed through the wider space, extending the illuminated treatment between the individual arches and scenic features. The official project record confirms the use of internal upright lighting in the principal arches and decorative fairy lights across the dining environment.

    Building a Coordinated Innovation Environment for AD Port Group


    AD Port Group Innovation in Abu Dhabi required a complete temporary environment combining exhibition spaces, presentation infrastructure, branded scenic features and integrated technology. The different areas needed to operate as one coordinated installation while maintaining a consistent architectural and visual language throughout the venue.


    Evolution Scenic handled the design, technical development, scenic fabrication, graphics production, installation and de-rig for the 2025 project. The principal scope included 16 custom exhibition booths, a 12-metre-wide main stage, a branded welcome wall with an illuminated logo, modular and illuminated branding elements, boat cladding and bleacher covers.


    Evolution Technical supplied the LED screens and their supporting systems, while Evolution Furniture provided all furniture used throughout the project. This required coordination between screen positions, scenic walling, counters, storage units and furniture layouts so the technical and operational elements could be integrated cleanly into the fabricated environment.


    The completed delivery brought the scenic, technical and furniture packages together as one temporary environment. Booth walling accommodated screens and cable access, counters and cabinets supported daily booth operations, while the stage, welcome feature, branding elements and specialist cladding extended the same scenic language across the wider project.

    Developing Sixteen Custom Exhibition Booths


    The principal exhibition environment comprised 16 custom booths arranged across several pavilion configurations. The layout needed to create a clear and consistent scenic identity while allowing individual booth areas to support different branding, screen content and operational requirements. Each booth was therefore developed as part of a wider exhibition system rather than as a standalone structure.


    Six booths formed the right-side pavilion, while five were positioned within the left-side pavilion. Two back-to-back structures created a further four individual booth faces, making efficient use of the available floor area. One additional standalone booth was positioned close to the auditorium seating platform, extending the same scenic language into a separate part of the venue.


    Thirteen of the booths measured three metres by three metres with an overall height of three metres. Three larger booths measured three metres by six metres and were also three metres high. Using these two standard footprints allowed the project to accommodate different spatial and operational requirements while maintaining consistent proportions across the exhibition environment.


    The booth system also needed to support branding, digital displays, visitor interaction and concealed storage within the same compact footprint. Counters, screen positions and internal storage had to be integrated without disrupting the clean scenic appearance of the walls and portal features. This required careful coordination between the structural layout and the functional requirements of each booth.


    Maintaining alignment between the platforms, wall lines and repeated architectural details was important to the overall composition. The consistent booth heights and shared construction language helped the different pavilion areas read as one coordinated temporary exhibition environment, while still allowing each booth to carry its own individual graphic identity.

    Establishing a Repeatable Scenic Construction System


    Custom plywood platforms formed the base of the exhibition booths and created a consistent foundation across the different pavilion areas. Carpet was installed across the platform surfaces to provide a clean finished floor within each booth. This also helped visually separate the fabricated exhibition spaces from the surrounding venue floor.


    The booth walls were constructed using plywood internal framing clad with MDF. This combination provided the structural support required for the temporary scenic environment while creating smooth, uniform surfaces for the final finishes. The wall system could then be repeated across both the standard and larger booth configurations.


    White paint was used as the principal scenic finish across the booth walling. Applied vinyl graphics introduced the individual branding and content required for each exhibitor without changing the underlying construction system. This allowed each booth to carry its own identity while remaining part of the same overall architectural language.


    The repeated construction method could be adapted according to each booth’s operational requirements. Screen positions, graphic layouts, counters and storage elements changed between booths, while the internal framing, cladding and finishing principles remained consistent. This helped simplify fabrication while maintaining flexibility across the 16-booth environment.


    Repeated wall proportions, portal forms and white scenic surfaces created visual continuity throughout the pavilions. Rather than appearing as a collection of unrelated exhibition stands, the booths read as one coordinated temporary architecture. The consistency of the underlying construction system supported both the practical build process and the overall scenic composition.

    Integrating Screens, Counters and Storage


    LED screens formed an important part of the exhibition environment and needed to be integrated directly into the scenic booth construction. Evolution Technical supplied the screens and their supporting systems, while Evolution Scenic coordinated the surrounding wall structures and screen positions.


    Cable-management access was incorporated into every wall where a television screen was mounted. This allowed power, signal and technical connections to remain accessible while keeping the visible booth surfaces clear of loose cabling and unnecessary technical clutter.


    The access provisions also allowed the screens to be installed, connected and checked without requiring the completed scenic walling to be dismantled. This helped maintain both the operational function of the technical equipment and the clean appearance of the finished booth interiors.


    Every booth included a front counter with internal storage. These counters created a consistent visitor-facing frontage while providing concealed space for operational materials, equipment and general booth requirements.


    The three larger booths also incorporated rear worktops with fitted storage cabinets. These additional joinery elements increased the practical working capacity of the wider booths while remaining integrated within the same scenic construction and finish language.

    Configuring Pavilion and Back-to-Back Booth Layouts


    The booth system needed to respond to several different spatial conditions while maintaining the same scenic language throughout the exhibition environment. The right- and left-side pavilions used repeated booth modules to create continuous elevations with consistent proportions and detailing.


    Platform edges, wall lines, counter positions and repeated overhead features were kept visually aligned across the pavilion areas. This repetition helped establish a clear architectural rhythm and allowed the individual booths to read as part of one coordinated temporary structure.


    The two back-to-back booth assemblies required a different layout approach. Each shared structure supported branding and booth functions on both sides, creating four individual booth faces from two central scenic constructions.


    Freestanding branded totems were positioned within the back-to-back booths, while display tables were installed at the front to provide additional presentation surfaces. These elements supplemented the integrated counters without interrupting the shared wall arrangement.


    The back-to-back configuration made efficient use of the available floor area while still allowing each booth face to retain its own graphic identity and visitor approach. The standalone booth near the auditorium seating platform followed the same three-metre-high scenic language, keeping it visually connected to the larger pavilion environment.

    Constructing the Main Stage and Scenic Backdrop


    Evolution Scenic fabricated a custom main stage measuring 12 metres wide by four metres deep. The stage formed the principal presentation area within the project and needed to provide a stable, finished platform that could coordinate cleanly with the scenic backdrop and technical screen systems.


    A custom steel stage-deck system formed the primary supporting structure. Plywood decking was installed above the steel framework to create a continuous surface, before carpet was applied across the top to complete the visible stage finish.


    This layered construction allowed each material to perform a specific function within the build. The steel deck provided the structural support, the plywood created a smooth and usable scenic substrate, and the carpet delivered the final presentation surface across the full stage area.


    Comfort monitors were positioned along the front of the stage as part of the presentation setup. Their placement needed to be considered alongside the stage edge and scenic arrangement so that the technical equipment remained functional without disrupting the overall appearance of the presentation area.


    The stage backdrop was fabricated from an internal timber-framed structure clad with MDF and finished with paint. The deck, backdrop and screen systems were coordinated as one presentation environment, helping the scenic and technical elements appear integrated rather than added as separate components.

    Creating the Illuminated Welcome and Branding Features


    The entrance environment incorporated a custom branded welcome wall that established a clear focal point within the project. The structure was fabricated from timber framing and clad with MDF, creating a smooth scenic surface suitable for the required graphic and lighting treatments.


    Vinyl graphics were applied across the visible wall faces to introduce the project identity and maintain consistency with the wider exhibition environment. The scenic walling therefore worked as both a structural feature and a large-format branding surface within the entrance area.


    A CNC-cut logo was integrated directly into the wall and illuminated from behind. The backlighting added depth and visibility to the logo, transforming it from a flat graphic element into a more dimensional scenic feature within the reception environment.


    A custom counter with internal storage was positioned in front of the welcome wall. This provided a practical reception point while remaining visually connected to the surrounding scenic architecture and branded backdrop.


    Illuminated branding panels and modular branding panels were also included within Evolution Scenic’s confirmed scope. These additional elements extended the visual identity beyond the main welcome feature and helped create a more consistent branded language across the wider temporary environment.

    Fabricating Boat Cladding and Bleacher Covers


    The boat cladding required a different construction approach from the prefabricated exhibition structures used elsewhere in the project. Rather than arriving as a completed freestanding scenic element, the cladding had to be developed directly around the existing boat and its installed position within the venue.


    A plywood supporting structure was formed around the required area of the boat and then clad with MDF. This created the scenic surface needed for the final finish while allowing the structure to follow the shape and proportions of the existing feature more closely.


    Vinyl graphics were applied across the completed MDF cladding to create the visible branded finish. The entire scenic assembly was fabricated on site, allowing the framework, cladding and graphics to be adjusted in response to the actual installation conditions rather than relying only on workshop measurements.


    This site-based fabrication process required the structure to be measured, formed and finished around an existing object. It differed from the booth and stage packages, where a larger proportion of the scenic construction could be developed as repeatable fabricated components before installation.


    Bleacher covers were also included within Evolution Scenic’s scope. These covers helped visually complete the auditorium seating infrastructure and allowed the bleacher area to sit within the same coordinated scenic language as the exhibition booths, stage and wider branding features.

    Coordinating Scenic, Technical and Furniture Delivery


    Three Evolution divisions contributed to the completed environment, each delivering a defined part of the project. Evolution Scenic handled the design, technical development, fabrication, graphics production, installation and de-rig, while the technical and furniture packages were coordinated alongside the scenic build.


    Evolution Technical supplied the LED screens and their associated support systems. This required close coordination with the fabricated booth walls so that screen positions, supporting structures and cable routes could be accommodated without disrupting the finished scenic surfaces.


    Evolution Furniture provided all furniture used throughout the project. Furniture layouts needed to work alongside the booth counters, storage areas, circulation routes and presentation spaces so that the operational use of each area remained practical within the temporary environment.


    Coordination between the three packages was particularly important at the interfaces between scenic construction and technical equipment. Screen dimensions affected wall construction, cable routes influenced access provisions, and furniture placement needed to remain compatible with the booth layouts and visitor circulation.


    The same approach applied to the main presentation area, where the stage structure, scenic backdrop, screens and comfort monitors needed to function as one coordinated system. Bringing the scenic, technical and furniture packages together helped maintain consistency across the exhibition booths, stage, entrance environment and auditorium areas.

    Installing and Delivering the Complete Environment


    Evolution Scenic handled the complete installation and subsequent de-rig of the project. The installation sequence needed to coordinate booth platforms, wall structures, counters, stage components, graphics, screens and furniture so that each package could be completed without disrupting the surrounding finished work.


    Booth platforms and primary scenic walling were positioned before the final technical equipment and furniture were integrated. Painted, carpeted and vinyl-finished surfaces also needed to be protected during the remaining installation stages so that the completed scenic environment maintained a clean and consistent finish.


    The boat cladding introduced an additional site requirement because its plywood support structure, MDF cladding and vinyl graphic finish were all produced at the venue. This required the scenic team to fabricate and finish the structure directly around the installed boat while working within the operational conditions of the site.


    All installation and de-rig activities were completed in accordance with the client’s rules and the restrictions applying to the venue. The supplied project information does not confirm the installation programme, working hours, crew size, access routes or lifting requirements, so these details should not be described as confirmed project facts.


    The completed environment brought together 16 exhibition booths, a custom steel-deck stage, painted scenic backdrops, integrated screens, storage counters, an illuminated welcome feature, modular branding, furniture and specialist cladding. Together, these elements created a coordinated temporary environment in which the exhibition, presentation and reception areas shared the same scenic construction and visual language.

    Developing the 10 × 8 Metre Reusable Retail Architecture


    Evolution Scenic developed the Tropicfeel Pop-Up as a complete temporary retail environment within a 10 × 8 metre footprint at Flat12 Café in Dubai. The scenic architecture needed to support the functions of a working retail space while reflecting Tropicfeel’s focus on durable, adaptable and reusable products.


    The layout accommodated footwear, garments, bags, bottles and packaged accessories through a combination of full-height display structures, angled shelving, hanging areas, open compartments and lower pallet-style display plinths. An information desk, concealed storage and fitting rooms were also integrated into the overall plan.


    Rather than creating a continuous site-built interior, the scheme was developed around independent fabricated components that could be repositioned and retained for future activations. This modular approach also supported efficient adjustments during installation.


    The 1.2-ton classic Range Rover formed the principal feature within the space. Its position, together with the custom steel ramps and freestanding branded logo, was coordinated with the surrounding merchandising and circulation areas.


    By combining product displays, operational joinery, fitting-room architecture, storage, branding and the vehicle feature within one defined footprint, Evolution Scenic created a cohesive temporary retail environment based on reusable scenic construction.

    Fabricating the Mobile Merchandising Display System


    Evolution Scenic fabricated the principal merchandising structures from a combination of white wood and PSB board, creating a coordinated system of freestanding scenic display units. Each structure was developed to support different merchandise categories while maintaining a consistent architectural language across the Tropicfeel retail environment.


    The internal configurations varied according to product requirements. Selected bays incorporated angled footwear shelves alongside garment hanging areas, while other units featured open compartments for bottles, bags and packaged accessories, allowing multiple merchandising functions to be integrated within the same scenic framework.


    Every display stand was fitted with castor wheels incorporating brakes, allowing complete units to be repositioned during installation without dismantling the main structure. This also provided flexibility for future activations, where the displays could be rearranged to suit different spatial layouts and merchandising requirements.


    Once positioned, the integrated brakes secured each unit within the completed retail layout. This mobile scenic construction combined operational flexibility, efficient installation and long-term reuse, supporting Tropicfeel’s requirement for an adaptable temporary retail system.

    Integrating Product Display and Branded Merchandising Features


    The internal architecture of the display bays was developed around the presentation requirements of different Tropicfeel product categories. Each unit needed to support a clear merchandising function while remaining visually consistent with the wider scenic and architectural language of the retail environment.


    Angled shelving provided dedicated display surfaces for footwear, improving product visibility within the freestanding units. Integrated hanging areas accommodated garments within the same structural framework, allowing footwear and apparel to be presented as part of one coordinated display system.


    Open compartments were incorporated for bottles, bags and packaged accessories, creating additional merchandising zones without introducing separate standalone furniture. This helped maintain a controlled layout and allowed multiple product types to be organised within the same fabricated display architecture.


    Branding was integrated directly into the scenic construction through selected fascia surfaces finished with vinyl stickers. This allowed graphic communication to become part of the display system itself, reinforcing brand identity without relying on additional freestanding signage.


    The combination of angled shelving, hanging systems, open compartments and branded fascia treatments created flexible merchandising zones while maintaining a consistent and reusable scenic construction language throughout the Tropicfeel retail environment.

    Coordinating White Wood, PSB Board and Mixed Scenic Finishes


    The principal product display structures were fabricated using a combination of white wood and PSB board, creating a material palette that balanced natural visual character with practical scenic construction. This combination established a consistent architectural language across the merchandising system while supporting the project’s requirement for reusable components.


    White wood formed many of the exposed frames and visible scenic surfaces, giving the display units a warmer and more natural appearance. Selected white wood elements received a clear coat finish, helping protect the material during handling and repeated use while retaining its original surface character.


    PSB board was incorporated into display panels, storage assemblies and branded components where more solid scenic surfaces were required. Used alongside the white wood framing, it allowed the units to combine open structures, shelving, compartments and fascia sections within the same coordinated display system.


    Paint finishes and vinyl graphics were introduced selectively where individual elements required a more controlled branded treatment. This created visual variation across the displays without disrupting the overall material consistency of the retail environment.


    The mixed-material approach supported both the scenic appearance and the longer-term reuse strategy. Durable fabricated components could be handled, repositioned and repurposed for future Tropicfeel activations while maintaining a consistent architectural and merchandising language.

    Constructing the Bespoke Information Desk with Concealed Storage


    Evolution Scenic fabricated a bespoke information desk as the principal customer-facing joinery element within the Tropicfeel pop-up. The desk was developed to provide a clear reception point while remaining visually consistent with the material language established across the wider retail environment.


    The external structure was constructed from white wood and finished with a clear coat, preserving the natural appearance of the material while providing additional protection for repeated handling and future reuse. This finish also helped connect the desk visually with the surrounding display units and pallet-style merchandising elements.


    A three-dimensional Tropicfeel cut-out logo was integrated directly into the front fascia and completed with a painted finish. Incorporating the branding into the joinery gave the counter a defined identity without requiring an additional freestanding graphic or secondary signage element.


    Internally, the desk incorporated a dedicated storage structure fabricated from PSB board and finished with paint. This concealed compartment provided practical space for operational materials while keeping the customer-facing surfaces controlled, organised and free from visible storage items.


    By combining reception functionality, integrated branding, durable finishes and concealed storage within one custom-built structure, the information desk operated as both a functional retail counter and a coordinated piece of scenic joinery within the temporary Tropicfeel environment.

    Fabricating the Low-Level Pallet Display Plinths


    Evolution Scenic fabricated custom pallet-style display plinths from white wood to create lower-level merchandising surfaces throughout the Tropicfeel retail environment. The units introduced a secondary display height beneath the full-height merchandising bays, helping establish a more layered composition within the 10 × 8 metre footprint.


    The plinths used a repeated slatted construction with open-framed side elevations and a timber deck across the upper surface. This pallet-inspired architectural treatment reduced the visual mass of the units while creating depth and texture through the repeated horizontal and vertical timber members.


    Their low-profile form provided flexible presentation surfaces for footwear, accessories and other featured products without interrupting sightlines across the wider retail space. The open construction also allowed the plinths to sit comfortably alongside larger display structures while retaining their own distinct scenic character.


    Each unit received a clear coat finish, protecting the exposed white wood while preserving its natural grain, tone and material texture. This treatment maintained continuity with the white wood used across the information desk and principal merchandising structures.


    As freestanding scenic components, the pallet displays supported the project’s wider reuse strategy and could be repositioned within different retail configurations. Their combination of slatted joinery, natural material treatment and adaptable low-level presentation made them functional pieces of reusable scenic retail architecture.

    Constructing the Storage and Fitting-Room Architecture


    Evolution Scenic integrated dedicated storage and fitting-room facilities into the temporary retail environment, ensuring that operational functions were incorporated within the same architectural language as the public-facing merchandising areas.


    The enclosure walls were fabricated from MDF and completed with a paint finish, creating clean scenic surfaces that aligned with the surrounding display structures and information desk. This allowed the fitting-room and storage zones to read as part of the wider retail architecture rather than as separate temporary additions.


    Within the fitting rooms, curtains provided privacy while mirrors supported the practical requirements of the changing areas. These elements were coordinated within the fabricated wall system so the customer facilities remained visually consistent with the overall Tropicfeel environment.


    The adjacent storage areas provided concealed operational space for stock and supporting materials, helping keep the principal retail zones clear and focused on product presentation. Integrating storage into the scenic construction also reduced the need for exposed back-of-house items within the public-facing layout.


    By incorporating fitting rooms, mirrors, curtains and concealed storage into the overall scenic build, Evolution Scenic created a more complete temporary retail environment within the 10 × 8 metre footprint, combining customer functionality with coordinated architectural fabrication.

    Engineering the Range Rover Feature and Branded Foreground


    A 1.2-ton classic Range Rover formed the principal feature within the Tropicfeel retail environment, creating a strong focal point within the 10 × 8 metre layout. Its position was coordinated with the surrounding merchandising structures so the vehicle became part of the wider scenic composition rather than an isolated display element.


    Evolution Scenic fabricated dedicated steel ramps to support and elevate the vehicle within the space. Finished in black paint, the structural steelwork was visually controlled and integrated with the overall feature while providing the load-bearing capacity required for the confirmed vehicle weight.


    The ramps functioned as engineered scenic structures rather than decorative platforms, combining structural performance with a clean architectural finish. Their placement established the vehicle at a defined display height while maintaining a clear relationship with the adjacent product displays and customer circulation areas.


    A freestanding three-dimensional Tropicfeel logo was positioned across the foreground of the vehicle feature. The letters were fabricated from PSB board and finished with white paint, while the supporting base received a contrasting black paint finish to coordinate with the steel ramp system.


    Together, the raised Range Rover, black-painted steel ramps and contrasting branded foreground created a defined scenic focal point within the pop-up. The feature combined structural metalwork, custom branding and retail spatial planning as one coordinated architectural installation.

    Installation, Delivery and Completion of the Reusable Scenic Environment


    Evolution Scenic completed the full Tropicfeel installation within an eight-hour programme, coordinating the scenic, joinery, branding and structural elements within the 10 × 8 metre retail footprint. The compressed installation period required the prefabricated components to be positioned efficiently while maintaining the intended spatial arrangement and circulation.


    The castor-mounted merchandising units supported an efficient site sequence by allowing complete display structures to be moved directly into position and adjusted within the finished layout. Once aligned, the integrated brakes secured each unit, reducing the need for additional on-site fixing while preserving the flexibility of the reusable display system.


    Installation of the wider scenic package included the pallet display plinths, bespoke information desk, storage structures, painted MDF fitting-room walls, curtains, mirrors, vinyl-branded fascias and freestanding three-dimensional logo. These elements were coordinated as one temporary retail architecture rather than installed as unrelated individual components.


    The black-painted steel vehicle ramps formed a separate structural element within the installation sequence and were positioned before the 1.2-ton Range Rover was placed into its final display location. The vehicle, ramps and contrasting branded foreground were then aligned with the surrounding merchandising structures to complete the principal scenic focal point.


    Because the product displays were fabricated as independent castor-mounted units, the completed system also supported future handling, transportation and reconfiguration. The finished installation demonstrated how mobile scenic joinery, temporary retail architecture, branded finishes and structural metalwork could be delivered within a compact footprint while retaining the adaptability required for future Tropicfeel activations.

    Constructing a Temporary Mosque at Expo City Dubai


    For Hai Ramadan 2024, Expo City Dubai required a fully functional temporary mosque within a 35m × 35m enclosure. The original tent structure was supplied by another contractor, creating a fixed shell around which the architectural and technical packages had to be developed. Evolution Scenic was responsible for developing the client-supplied design and transforming the basic enclosure through structural fabrication, scenic construction, interior fit-out and building-services installation. The project therefore required the team to work across both architectural and technical disciplines rather than treating the mosque as a conventional event installation.


    Evolution Scenic completed the combined fabrication and site-installation programme over two months. The finished mosque incorporated a structural-steel mezzanine and staircase, double-wall internal construction, a steel-framed external envelope and a developed architectural entrance. Plywood and fibreglass façade elements, illuminated prayer-hall features, fitted joinery and coordinated floor finishes established the visible architectural character of the completed space. At the same time, electrical systems, lighting, air conditioning, plumbing and ablution facilities ensured that the temporary mosque functioned as an operational building rather than solely as a scenic environment.


    The completed installation transformed the contractor-supplied tent into a cohesive temporary place of worship with a distinct architectural identity. Internally, the fitted walls, ceiling treatments, prayer carpet, illuminated mihrab and custom joinery created a controlled worship environment. Externally, the steel-framed envelope, concrete-board construction, façade portals, lattice panels and entrance structure concealed the visual character of the original tent. The result was a coordinated temporary building that combined scenic fabrication, structural engineering, interior fit-out and building services within one integrated delivery package.

    Developing the Client Design


    The architectural concept was supplied by the client and developed by Evolution Scenic into a practical construction package suitable for fabrication and installation. This required the design intent to be translated into coordinated technical information that could respond to the actual site and structural conditions. The project also had to work around the dimensions and connection restrictions of a tent manufactured by another supplier. Those limitations became an important part of the technical development rather than something that could be resolved only during installation.


    The existing tent influenced the positioning of the internal wall lines, external framing, mezzanine, staircase, façade geometry, foyer, ceiling and service routes. Each of these elements needed to be coordinated with the original enclosure while still maintaining the intended architectural proportions of the mosque. The new construction also had to conceal the visual character of the tent so that the finished environment did not read as a temporary enclosure with decorative panels applied over it. This required a more complete scenic and architectural treatment around both the interior and exterior surfaces.


    Evolution Scenic therefore developed internal and external wall systems that established independent architectural planes around the original tent structure. These controlled surfaces created a consistent basis for installing the façade, entrance features, interior finishes and other scenic elements. By separating the visible architectural treatment from the original enclosure, the team could maintain cleaner geometry and a more convincing finished appearance. The result was a coordinated temporary environment in which the underlying tent structure was visually transformed through scenic construction and architectural detailing.

    Fabricating the Structural-Steel Mezzanine


    A mezzanine level was introduced within the mosque to increase the available internal space and make more effective use of the existing tent volume. Evolution Scenic fabricated both the mezzanine structure and the associated staircase from structural steel. The assembly had to fit within the restricted height and footprint of the existing enclosure while maintaining usable circulation around the main prayer area. This required the mezzanine geometry to be coordinated carefully with the wider architectural layout rather than treated as an independent platform.


    The mezzanine formed part of an occupied temporary building and therefore required a robust structural approach appropriate to its function. It was not developed as a lightweight scenic deck or purely visual feature, but as a usable upper level within the completed environment. The staircase also formed part of this circulation strategy, providing access between levels while fitting within the spatial limitations of the tent. Together, the steelwork and access route needed to support the practical use of the space without disrupting the organisation of the prayer areas below.

    The mezzanine fabrication also needed to coordinate with the internal wall construction, air-conditioning distribution, lighting and completed floor levels. These interfaces were important because the structural steel could not be developed in isolation from the surrounding architectural and technical systems. Accurate coordination helped ensure that the finished mezzanine integrated cleanly into the wider temporary mosque environment.

    Reinforcing the Internal Tent Walls


    Evolution Scenic constructed a double-wall system around the interior of the tent to replace the soft visual character of the original enclosure with a more controlled architectural finish. The confirmed wall build-up used 18mm plywood PSB board fixed over timber formers, creating a rigid surface suitable for the internal scenic treatment. A textured painted finish was then applied to complete the wall system and establish a consistent visual language throughout the mosque interior. This construction created cleaner wall planes and gave the temporary structure a more permanent architectural appearance.


    The internal wall system also provided a consistent background for the prayer hall, illuminated mihrab, shoe-storage joinery, ceiling treatments and other integrated scenic features. By introducing independent wall planes inside the tent, Evolution Scenic could coordinate these elements against a stable fabricated surface rather than the flexible tent lining. This helped maintain alignment between the architectural features and the wider interior composition. The wall construction therefore performed both a visual and practical role within the completed temporary mosque.


    The internal build also needed to accommodate electrical, air-conditioning and other service interfaces without disrupting the finished wall surfaces. Openings, penetrations and service routes had to be coordinated within the timber former and board construction so that the technical systems could remain integrated with the architectural treatment. This allowed the completed walls to retain clean, continuous planes while supporting the operational requirements of the occupied space. The result was a coordinated internal envelope that combined scenic fabrication, architectural finishing and technical integration within the existing tent structure.

    Building the External Wall System


    Steel-framed concrete-board panels formed the mosque’s external wall system and created a more substantial architectural envelope around the existing tent. The steel framing provided a stable backing structure that was independent of the original fabric surface. Concrete board was then used as the visible external substrate, giving the perimeter a more rigid and durable finish. The project page confirms this steel-framed concrete-board construction as the principal external wall build-up.


    This external system also created the base for the mosque’s repeated architectural portals, perforated screens and tower-like entrance feature. By working from a controlled structural surface, these elements could be aligned more consistently across the elevations. The wall system therefore supported both the practical enclosure of the tent and the architectural detailing applied to its exterior. This helped the completed mosque read as a coordinated temporary building rather than an exposed tent with added decorative features.


    The external walls played both a functional and scenic role within the overall project. They enclosed and visually transformed the original structure while providing the surfaces required for the repeated façade language. The combination of steel framing, concrete-board panels and applied architectural elements established a continuous perimeter treatment around the mosque. The result was a stronger temporary envelope that supported the scale, rhythm and visual identity of the finished building.

    Creating the Plywood and Fibreglass Façade


    The external elevations were defined by a repeated sequence of tall triangular portals that established the main architectural rhythm of the mosque façade. Evolution Scenic fabricated these features using plywood and fibreglass, combining shaped scenic construction with a more refined visible finish. The portals projected outward from the main wall line, giving the elevations additional depth and helping the temporary structure read as a purpose-built architectural environment. Their repeated geometry became one of the strongest visual characteristics of the completed exterior.


    Each portal needed to maintain consistent angles, openings and spacing so that the elevation remained visually controlled from one end of the building to the other. Any dimensional variation between the individual units could have disrupted the alignment of the façade and created inconsistencies where the portals met the adjacent lattice panels. Plywood provided the shaped scenic base required to establish the angular geometry, while fibreglass was used to form and finish the visible architectural surfaces. This combination allowed the repeated forms to retain a consistent profile across the full exterior treatment.


    Perforated decorative lattice panels were integrated within the façade composition and positioned inside the large angular openings created by the portals. These panels introduced an additional layer of pattern and depth without competing with the dominant triangular geometry of the exterior. The construction photographs show the latticework working in direct relationship with the portal framing, creating a layered façade rather than a flat wall treatment. Together, the plywood, fibreglass and perforated panels produced a coordinated scenic envelope with a strong architectural identity.

    Fabricating the Prayer-Hall Ceiling


    Evolution Scenic delivered the prayer-hall ceiling together with its circular illuminated feature, creating one of the main architectural focal points within the worship space. The central element comprised a series of illuminated concentric forms that introduced depth and visual emphasis overhead. Its circular geometry contrasted with the surrounding linear surfaces while remaining integrated into the overall interior composition. The completed feature is clearly visible in the project imagery as a defining element of the prayer hall.


    The ceiling treatment needed to coordinate closely with the electrical installation, lighting system and air-conditioning outlets serving the space. This required the illuminated feature to be developed alongside the technical services rather than treated as an isolated decorative component. Lighting positions and service interfaces had to work within the surrounding ceiling geometry while preserving the intended appearance of the concentric forms. The result was a coordinated overhead treatment in which scenic fabrication and technical integration operated together.


    Rather than being applied as a separate decorative object, the illumination formed part of the architectural composition of the prayer hall. The surrounding ceiling lines and wall surfaces helped frame the circular feature and strengthen its visual relationship with the rest of the interior. This created a controlled connection between the overhead geometry and the prayer carpet below, reinforcing the organisation of the worship space. The finished ceiling therefore combined scenic construction, integrated lighting and interior coordination within a single cohesive architectural feature.

    Creating the Illuminated Mihrab


    An illuminated triangular mihrab formed the principal focal point at the front of the prayer hall and established a clear visual direction within the worship space. Its geometry continued the triangular architectural language used across the external façade, creating a direct connection between the mosque’s interior and exterior treatment. The feature was designed to sit within the wider wall composition rather than read as an isolated decorative element. This helped maintain a consistent architectural language throughout the temporary structure.


    The mihrab was integrated with Evolution Scenic’s lighting and electrical package, allowing illumination to form part of the feature itself. Rather than relying on applied graphics or temporary branding, the lighting defined the triangular outline and gave the element a restrained visual presence. The illuminated edge treatment helped distinguish the mihrab from the surrounding wall surfaces while preserving the overall simplicity of the prayer-hall environment. This approach supported the functional importance of the feature without introducing unnecessary visual complexity.


    The completed mihrab remained visually clear within the wider prayer-hall composition while retaining the restrained material language used throughout the mosque. Its shape, position and illumination worked together to reinforce its role as the principal architectural reference point at the front of the space. The surrounding wall and ceiling treatments supported the feature without competing with it. The result was a cohesive focal element that linked scenic fabrication, integrated lighting and the wider architectural geometry of the mosque.

    Integrating Air Conditioning


    Evolution Scenic also supplied the air-conditioning system required to serve the temporary mosque environment. The system needed to operate across the full 35m × 35m enclosure, supporting the main prayer hall, mezzanine, foyer and separate ablution spaces. Because these areas had different spatial conditions, the air-conditioning installation needed to be coordinated with the wider architectural layout rather than treated as a standalone technical package. This helped ensure that the completed environment remained comfortable while preserving the intended internal appearance.


    Air-conditioning outlets and service routes were coordinated with the internal wall construction and ceiling treatment so that the technical systems could be incorporated without disrupting the finished scenic surfaces. The distribution needed to work around the prayer-hall ceiling, mezzanine structure, wall build-ups and other architectural features already forming part of the interior. This required close coordination between the mechanical installation and the scenic fabrication package during design development. The result was a more integrated interior in which environmental services could operate without visually dominating the architectural treatment.

    Constructing the Ablution Areas


    Separate ablution facilities were constructed for men and women as part of the wider temporary mosque environment. Evolution Scenic delivered the partitions, plumbing systems, ablution fittings and vinyl flooring required for both areas. The project information confirms the provision of two separate ablution spaces together with the vinyl floor finish. These facilities formed an essential functional component of the mosque and therefore needed to be integrated into the overall architectural and service layout.


    The ablution areas required coordination between water services, fittings, partitions and floor finishes to create practical wet-use environments. Their positioning also needed to maintain clear separation from the main prayer area while remaining connected to the mosque’s circulation routes. Vinyl flooring provided a maintainable surface appropriate to the wet-area function and supported the practical use of the facilities. The completed spaces therefore combined plumbing, partitions, fittings and finishes within a coordinated part of the temporary building.

    Producing the Shoe-Storage Joinery


    Custom shoe-storage joinery and counters were installed within the mosque to support the transition between the entrance areas and the carpeted prayer hall. These elements provided a practical location for footwear storage while helping organise movement into the main worship space. The joinery needed to offer sufficient storage without obstructing circulation routes or creating congestion around the entrance. Its placement therefore formed part of the wider spatial planning of the mosque rather than functioning as standalone furniture.


    The finishes were coordinated with the surrounding interior so that the shoe-storage units and counters appeared as integrated architectural elements. Their proportions and positioning needed to work with the adjacent wall treatment, flooring and circulation paths while maintaining a clean visual appearance. This approach helped the operational furniture remain consistent with the wider material language of the mosque instead of reading as temporary event equipment. The completed joinery therefore combined practical storage, circulation support and coordinated scenic finishing within the overall interior environment.

    Installing the Floor Finishes


    Different floor finishes were selected across the mosque to suit the practical requirements of each functional area. The main prayer hall received fitted prayer carpet, while vinyl flooring was installed within the foyer and the separate ablution areas. Grass carpet completed the external approach and immediate perimeter, creating a distinct transition between the outside environment and the enclosed worship space. This material division is confirmed by the project page and helped differentiate the worship, circulation, wet and external zones.


    The floor-finishing package also required careful coordination with the wider construction sequence. Structural steelwork, high-level construction, wall finishing and service installation needed to progress without damaging the completed prayer carpet, vinyl flooring or external grass carpet. Final surfaces therefore had to be introduced at the appropriate stage of the build so they could remain clean and protected through completion. The finished flooring contributed both functionally and visually to the overall organisation of the temporary mosque environment.

    Coordinating the Two-Month Programme


    Evolution Scenic completed the combined fabrication and installation programme over two months, bringing together a wide range of interdependent scenic, structural and technical disciplines. The programme covered structural steel fabrication, carpentry, plywood construction, fibreglass work, concrete-board installation, paint finishes, joinery, lighting, electrical systems, air conditioning, plumbing and flooring. Because the existing tent formed a fixed structural interface, each package had to be developed around its actual dimensions and connection limitations. This required the sequencing of fabrication and site works to remain closely coordinated so that one trade could progress without restricting the installation of another.


    Workshop accuracy was essential, but the project also required sufficient flexibility on site to accommodate the real geometry of the contractor-supplied enclosure. The programme needed to move logically from structural and supporting works through wall systems, architectural finishes, service installation, joinery and final flooring while maintaining access for multiple disciplines. Careful coordination was particularly important where steelwork, scenic construction and technical services occupied the same areas of the temporary building.

    Delivering Functional Temporary Architecture


    The completed mosque demonstrates how scenic construction can extend beyond conventional stages, exhibitions and branded event environments into functional temporary architecture. Evolution Scenic applied its fabrication capabilities to create an occupied building environment incorporating structural elements, building services, wet facilities and a fully developed architectural interior. Although the original tent remained the primary enclosure, it no longer defined the appearance or character of the finished mosque. Instead, the visible environment was created through a coordinated combination of scenic construction, architectural detailing and technical integration.


    Internally, reinforced wall systems, fitted prayer carpet, illuminated architectural features, custom joinery and coordinated services established the main worship environment. Externally, steel-framed walls, concrete-board cladding, plywood and fibreglass portals, decorative lattice panels and the tower-style entrance created a completely different architectural identity around the original enclosure. These elements worked together to transform the tent from a temporary shell into a purpose-built visual and functional environment. The finished mosque therefore operated at the intersection of scenic fabrication, temporary architecture and interior fit-out.


    The project also demonstrates the importance of coordinating multiple disciplines within a single delivery package. Structural construction, specialist manufacturing, lighting, electrical systems, air conditioning, plumbing, joinery and finishing all had to work within the same constrained temporary structure. Each package contributed to the final architectural result while also supporting the practical requirements of an occupied place of worship. The completed installation therefore reflects Evolution Scenic’s ability to combine technical coordination, custom fabrication and detailed finishing within one integrated temporary building solution.

  • Pedjas Kraft Coffee Shop Solid-Walnut Interior Fit-Out in Dubai

    Project Overview


    Pedjas Kraft Coffee Shop was created within an empty commercial unit in Business Bay, Dubai, in 2023. The project involved transforming the vacant shell into a permanent and fully operational coffee shop environment. Working from a client-supplied concept, Evolution Scenic developed the interior design into a coordinated and buildable solution. The approach combined the functional requirements of a hospitality space with a cohesive architectural and material identity.


    Delivered over a five-week programme, the principal fabrication scope centred on the main service counter and worktops, forming the operational and visual focus of the interior. Bespoke wall shelving, full-height storage, a menu-board frame and glazed display cabinets were produced to integrate service, storage and product presentation within the overall design. Entrance elements were also fabricated to create a considered transition into the coffee shop. Each component was developed as part of a coordinated interior rather than as an individual standalone element.


    The wider fit-out incorporated timber ceiling beams, custom table tops and walnut flooring, creating a warm and consistent material character throughout the space. Engraved branding was integrated into the fabricated elements, embedding the Pedjas Kraft identity directly within the interior. Associated electrical works were coordinated alongside the fabrication and installation process. Together, these elements transformed the original commercial shell into a cohesive, functional and carefully detailed coffee shop.

    Design Development


    Evolution Scenic developed the client’s initial concept into a coordinated and buildable interior package, translating the design intent into a series of bespoke fabricated elements. The approach considered how the counter, storage, display features and architectural finishes would work together within the existing commercial unit. This allowed the different components to form a consistent interior rather than appearing as separate installations.


    The main service counter established the operational centre of the coffee shop, combining a customer-facing feature with the practical requirements of daily service. Behind it, open display shelving and full-height cupboards provided integrated areas for product presentation and storage. A purpose-made menu-board frame was incorporated into the rear joinery, visually connecting the menu display with the surrounding cabinetry. Timber ceiling beams and supports for suspended lighting extended the material language above the counter and helped define the main service area.


    Custom entrance elements continued the design language at the shopfront, creating a considered transition into the interior. Bespoke table tops carried the same attention to material and detailing into the customer seating areas, while integrated branding reinforced the identity of Pedjas Kraft throughout the space. Together, these fabricated elements created a cohesive relationship between the operational, architectural and customer-facing areas of the coffee shop.

    Fabrication and Materials


    Solid walnut formed the principal material language throughout the fitted interior, giving the coffee shop a consistent timber character across both architectural and functional elements. Evolution Scenic used the material throughout the bespoke fabrication package, including the main service counter, worktops, shelving, storage joinery and menu-board frame. The same approach extended to the entrance elements, ceiling supports and custom table tops, creating continuity across the customer-facing and operational areas.


    The walnut components received a teak-oil finish, enhancing the depth and warmth of the timber while allowing its natural grain, tone and variation to remain visible. Rather than concealing the characteristics of the material, the finish emphasised the crafted quality of the fabricated elements. Engraved Pedjas Kraft logos were incorporated into selected table tops, embedding the branding directly into the manufactured timber surfaces rather than relying entirely on applied graphics.


    Evolution Scenic also installed the confirmed walnut flooring, extending the timber palette across the horizontal surfaces of the interior and reinforcing the overall material identity. This created a visual relationship between the flooring, furniture and bespoke joinery throughout the coffee shop. Other visible floor finishes formed part of separate supply packages and were not included within Evolution Scenic’s confirmed scope.

    Project Outcome


    The completed Pedjas Kraft Coffee Shop is defined by a consistent solid-walnut material language extending across the service counter, worktops, shelving, storage joinery, custom table tops, overhead features and flooring. Together, these elements establish a strong visual connection between the operational and customer-facing areas of the interior. The coordinated use of timber also gives the completed space a warm, crafted character appropriate to a permanent hospitality environment.


    A teak-oil finish was applied across the fabricated walnut components, helping unify the different elements while retaining the natural grain, tone and variation of the timber. This consistency of material and finish allowed individually manufactured components to read as part of a single interior scheme. Integrated details, including engraved branding, further connected the Pedjas Kraft identity with the physical fabrication of the space.


    The project demonstrates Evolution Scenic’s ability to combine interior design development with specialist carpentry, bespoke manufacturing, electrical coordination and on-site installation. From developing the client’s initial concept through to fabrication and final installation, the work brought multiple disciplines together within a five-week programme.   • SES Exhibition Lounge Scenic Fabrication at RICEC, Riyadh

    PROJECT OVERVIEW


    Evolution Scenic designed, fabricated, installed and dismantled the SES Exhibition Lounge for the Saudi Event Show 2023, delivered at the Riyadh International Convention & Exhibition Center (RICEC).


    The project was developed as a complete temporary exhibition environment rather than a series of individual branded elements. The scenic package combined architectural wall construction, custom joinery, furniture integration, technical displays, dimensional branding and an overhead suspended fabric treatment within one coordinated lounge.


    The physical environment needed to support several functions within the same footprint. Visitors required comfortable seating areas, standing networking positions, coffee-service facilities and access to digital exhibition information, while the overall space still needed to read as one visually connected installation.


    Evolution Scenic therefore approached the lounge as a piece of temporary exhibition architecture. White scenic walls established the main enclosure and visual framework. Contrasting dark joinery helped define functional areas, while the suspended blue fabric feature created a recognisable architectural layer above the lounge.


    The project also brought together several Evolution disciplines. Evolution Scenic delivered the primary scenic construction and custom-fabricated elements. Evolution Furniture supplied the chairs, sofas and coffee tables, while Evolution Technical supplied the integrated display screens.


    Evolution Scenic fabricated the dimensional logos used within the lounge. Wall graphics and printed fabric were produced by specialist outsourced suppliers and coordinated into the finished environment.


    The confirmed overall project programme was 15 days, including the scenic delivery process. Following the Saudi Event Show, Evolution Scenic was also responsible for dismantling the temporary installation.

    MODULAR SCENIC CONSTRUCTION & FABRICATION


    The main SES Exhibition Lounge environment was manufactured as workshop-built modular scenic sections before being transported to RICEC for installation.


    The confirmed construction materials included MDF, plywood, timber framing, metal framing, acrylic and laminate.


    Using a combination of materials allowed different parts of the lounge to be fabricated according to their functional and visual requirements. MDF and plywood provided suitable substrates for scenic walls and custom joinery, while timber and metal framing supported the internal construction of the modular elements.


    The scenic structures were manufactured in sections rather than constructed entirely inside the exhibition hall. This meant much of the cutting, assembly, preparation and finishing could be completed under controlled workshop conditions before delivery.


    For temporary scenic construction, modular fabrication is particularly useful where site access and installation periods are restricted. The methodology allows substantial sections of an exhibition environment to arrive at the venue already manufactured and finished, reducing the amount of primary construction required on the exhibition floor.


    The modular sections also needed to connect accurately once positioned on site. Alignment between scenic walls, custom counters, technical openings and neighbouring structures was therefore important to achieving the finished appearance.


    The construction had to visually conceal the temporary nature of the build. Once assembled, the environment needed to appear as a continuous interior rather than a visible collection of transportable modules.


    Particular attention would normally be given to junctions, panel alignment, edge conditions and connection points when producing modular scenic environments. These are normal Evolution Scenic fabrication considerations rather than confirmed project-specific technical details.


    The modular methodology also supported the eventual dismantling of the lounge. Because the environment was temporary from the outset, the construction needed to be suitable for installation and subsequent removal after the exhibition.

    CUSTOM JOINERY, COFFEE BAR & FURNITURE


    Custom joinery played an important role in transforming the lounge from a basic exhibition enclosure into a functional hospitality and networking environment. One of the principal fabricated elements was the custom coffee bar. Rather than placing a standard catering counter inside the lounge, the bar was developed as part of the wider scenic architecture. Its darker finish created visual contrast against the predominantly white scenic walls and helped establish a defined hospitality zone within the environment.


    The coffee bar had to function operationally while maintaining the standard of finish expected from the surrounding scenic construction. This relationship between functionality and appearance is a key consideration in exhibition joinery, where counters and furniture are often highly visible components of the completed environment.


    Evolution Scenic also fabricated custom standing networking tables specifically for the project.

    Producing these tables as bespoke pieces allowed their appearance to remain consistent with the lounge rather than introducing unrelated off-the-shelf furniture into the scenic composition.

    Their integration contributed to the overall visual language of the space while providing practical standing positions for informal discussions and networking. The wider furniture package was supplied by Evolution Furniture.


    The supplied furniture was positioned within the zones created by the scenic construction, allowing the modular walls, furniture and circulation areas to function together.

    This coordination between fabricated joinery and loose furniture helped maintain consistency throughout the lounge. The custom elements established the architectural character, while the furniture completed the operational seating and hospitality requirements. The project therefore involved more than manufacturing wall structures. Scenic fabrication extended into the functional components visitors physically interacted with throughout the exhibition.

    SCENIC FINISHES, GRAPHICS & BRAND INTEGRATION


    The fabricated scenic environment received PU-painted finishes. PU paint was used across the fabricated scenic surfaces to create the clean, controlled appearance required throughout the lounge. The predominantly white architectural treatment provided a neutral scenic background, while darker elements such as the coffee bar introduced stronger contrast between different functional areas.


    A high-quality scenic finish is particularly important on exhibition projects because walls, counters and branded elements are viewed at relatively close range. Surface preparation, edge quality and consistency across adjoining fabricated sections all contribute to the final presentation. 

    Evolution Scenic also fabricated the dimensional logos used within the SES Exhibition Lounge. Rather than relying entirely on printed branding, the dimensional elements introduced physical depth into the graphic treatment and allowed branding to become part of the scenic construction.


    The wall graphics themselves were produced by an outsourced specialist supplier. Similarly, the printed fabric was outsourced rather than manufactured directly by Evolution Scenic. Evolution Scenic coordinated these specialist components with the workshop-built scenic package so that the printed surfaces and fabricated structures formed a consistent finished environment. This distinction is important when describing the project accurately. Evolution Scenic fabricated the physical scenic environment and logos while specialist suppliers produced the confirmed printed graphic and fabric components.


    The scenic walls provided the substrates, proportions and architectural framework into which these graphic treatments were installed. The result was a layered branded environment using several methods simultaneously. dimensional fabricated logos, PU-painted scenic surfaces, applied wall graphics and printed fabric treatments. Together, these elements created a stronger visual environment than graphics alone could have achieved.

    Creating the Floating Fabric Ceiling


    The most visually distinctive part of the lounge was positioned overhead. Repeated blue fabric elements were suspended across the space using metal rods, creating a floating ceiling installation above the scenic walls and furniture. The individual pieces established a strong rhythm through the lounge and gave the temporary build a recognisable identity from several viewpoints within the exhibition hall.


    Unlike a solid scenic ceiling, the repeated fabric elements allowed the overhead treatment to remain visually lightweight. This was particularly suited to an exhibition environment where the structure needed to define the lounge without attempting to reproduce the construction of a permanent room. The ceiling also extended the blue graphic language vertically through the installation, connecting the overhead environment with the blue accents used around the seating and display areas.


    The confirmed construction information identifies fabric and metal rods. Printed fabric production was outsourced.     SUSPENDED FABRIC CEILING FEATURE


    One of the defining scenic elements of the SES Exhibition Lounge was the suspended blue fabric ceiling treatment. The feature was constructed using fabric and metal rods, creating a repeated overhead composition above the lounge. Rather than installing a conventional solid scenic ceiling, the project used individual suspended fabric elements to create a lightweight architectural layer.


    This approach helped establish a strong visual boundary above the lounge while allowing the environment to remain open within the much larger volume of the RICEC exhibition hall. The repeated fabric forms introduced rhythm across the ceiling and helped visually connect different parts of the lounge beneath them. Their blue colour also provided contrast against the white scenic wall construction and reinforced the visual identity of the environment.


    The overhead installation demonstrates how fabric can be used as a three-dimensional scenic construction material rather than simply as a printed graphic surface. Supported by metal rods, the fabric became part of the spatial architecture of the lounge. The feature also helped give the environment a recognisable profile when viewed from different positions within the exhibition hall. The scenic identity was therefore established not only through the walls and furniture at floor level but also through the space above them.


    Printed fabric production was undertaken by an outsourced specialist supplier. The exact fabric specification, individual rod sizes, suspension points and fixing details have not been supplied.     TECHNICAL INTEGRATION, SITE INSTALLATION & VENUE PROTECTION


    The lounge incorporated integrated digital display screens supplied by Evolution Technical. The screens were strategically positioned throughout the environment to show exhibition information and provide an overview of Evolution's contribution as a sponsor.


    Rather than treating the screens as freestanding audiovisual equipment, they were visually incorporated into the scenic wall construction. This required coordination between the scenic and technical packages.


    The scenic walls needed to provide suitable locations and finished architectural surrounds for the screens, while the display technology needed to align accurately with the visible wall openings.

    Integrating technical equipment into scenic fabrication helps reduce visual clutter and allows screens to appear as intentional parts of the architecture. Once workshop fabrication was complete, the modular scenic elements were transported to the Riyadh International Convention & Exhibition Center for site installation.


    Because the principal components had already been manufactured as modular sections, the venue phase focused on assembling and aligning the scenic environment and integrating the remaining packages. The site installation brought together: scenic wall sections, custom joinery, dimensional logos, outsourced graphics, suspended fabric elements, furniture and technical displays.


    Floor protection was a confirmed venue requirement. This was particularly important during installation and dismantling because fabricated wall sections, metal components, tools, furniture and technical equipment needed to be moved through the exhibition space without damaging the existing venue surfaces.


    On temporary exhibition projects, installation would normally also require coordination between scenic, technical, furniture and venue teams so that each package can be introduced in a controlled sequence. This represents normal project methodology and is not presented as a confirmed detailed installation sequence for the SES Exhibition Lounge. The exact installation duration, crew numbers and access schedule have not been supplied separately from the confirmed 15-day overall programme.

    PROJECT DELIVERY, DISMANTLING & OUTCOME

    The SES Exhibition Lounge was delivered through a confirmed 15-day overall programme. Within that programme, Evolution Scenic manufactured and delivered a temporary environment combining several different areas of scenic production.


    The completed lounge incorporated modular PU-painted wall structures, custom joinery, bespoke standing tables, dimensional branding, graphic surfaces, integrated display technology, lounge furniture and the distinctive suspended fabric ceiling.


    What appeared as a simple and clean exhibition lounge was therefore the result of multiple coordinated fabrication and supply packages. The modular scenic walls established the architecture.


    The custom coffee bar and networking tables provided functional joinery. The suspended fabric installation defined the environment overhead. Dimensional logos and outsourced graphics provided branding.


    Evolution Furniture completed the seating areas. Evolution Technical integrated the digital display package. Together, these components created one connected temporary interior rather than a collection of independent exhibition products.


    The project also demonstrates the practical importance of designing scenic environments around their full lifecycle. Evolution Scenic was responsible not only for fabrication and installation but also for dismantling the lounge after the exhibition.


    The environment therefore needed to perform successfully during the Saudi Event Show while remaining suitable for controlled removal once the exhibition had finished.
