    ENGINEERING PERFORMANCE SCENERY FOR TERHAL BY DRAGONE


    In 2023, Evolution Scenic was selected by Dragone to fabricate custom scenic elements for Terhal in Diriyah, Riyadh. The commission required visually authentic scenery that could also perform reliably within a demanding live-production environment.


    The creative concepts were supplied by the client, with Evolution Scenic responsible for translating them into practical, production-ready scenic pieces. This involved developing the construction, structural approach and operational details needed for repeated use during rehearsals and performances.


    The scope included six Saudi street-market carts and a traditional Arabian land-abra. The market carts were designed to function as parkour obstacles, requiring sufficient strength, stability and mobility for direct performer interaction.


    The land-abra was engineered to move under its own power while maintaining the appearance of a traditional Arabian boat. Across the scope, structural engineering, mobility, performer interaction and scenic authenticity were central to the fabrication process.

    BUILDING SIX STEEL-FRAMED PARKOUR CARTS


    The six market carts were developed to preserve the visual character and traditional appearance of Saudi street-market furniture while also providing the structural strength required for demanding live performance use. Their construction needed to support repeated performer interaction and physical movement without affecting the overall scenic look of the finished pieces.


    Evolution Scenic fabricated the primary internal frameworks using 48 mm diameter mild-steel pipe, creating a strong and reliable structural core for each cart. This steel framework carried the required performance loads while allowing the decorative scenic surfaces to be developed independently around the supporting structure.


    Plywood, MDF and timber were applied over the steel framework to establish the external profiles, panels and recognisable market-cart forms. Fibreglass, foam, fabric and acrylic were also incorporated where appropriate to create shaped details, lightweight decorative components and additional scenic features required by the supplied concepts.


    This combination of metalwork, carpentry, composite materials and scenic fabrication allowed each material to serve a specific structural or visual purpose. The completed carts retained the appearance of traditional timber-built market objects while incorporating a substantially reinforced internal construction suitable for parkour performance and repeated use within the production environment.

    DESIGNING FOR PERFORMER LOADS


    The distinctive feature of the market carts was their role as active parkour obstacles within the performance. Performers were expected to climb, jump, land and interact directly with the structures, creating significantly different demands compared with conventional decorative scenic furniture.


    To support this level of physical interaction, the carts required a strong and stable internal construction capable of handling the intended performance loads. At the same time, they needed to remain mobile and practical for movement within the production environment without losing their traditional scenic appearance.


    Evolution Scenic used 48 mm diameter mild-steel pipe as the main structural framework, providing the reinforced core required for the carts' performance function. Load limits formed part of the technical considerations, ensuring that the scenic elements were approached as functional performance structures rather than lightweight decorative props.


    This combination of scenic appearance and engineered strength demonstrates the difference between conventional scenic fabrication and performance-focused scenic engineering. What appeared on stage as a traditional market cart incorporated a more substantial internal structure, allowing it to function reliably as part of the performers' physical environment.

    DEVELOPING THE SCENIC SURFACES


    With the structural framework completed, Evolution Scenic developed the visible forms of the scenic elements using plywood, MDF and timber. These materials were shaped and applied around the engineered structures to establish the required profiles, panels and traditional visual character of the finished pieces.


    Fibreglass, foam, fabric and acrylic were incorporated where the scenic design required more detailed, lightweight or shaped decorative components. Combining these materials allowed the fabrication team to create varied forms and textures while maintaining a consistent overall appearance across the scenic elements.


    Scenic painting, distressing, textured coatings and timber staining were then used to visually unify the different construction materials. These finishing techniques helped create depth, variation and a more authentic aged appearance rather than allowing the newly fabricated surfaces to appear overly clean or factory-produced.


    Careful variations in colour, timber tone, texture and surface treatment helped reinforce the traditional character required by the supplied creative concepts. The completed scenic surfaces therefore combined a strong engineered construction beneath with a detailed, deliberately aged exterior suitable for close performer interaction and live theatrical presentation.

    TURNING A GOLF BUGGY INTO AN ARABIAN BOAT


    The second major fabrication challenge was the creation of the land-abra, which needed to operate as a moving scenic element rather than a static boat prop. Evolution Scenic transformed an existing golf buggy into a traditional Arabian boat capable of travelling through the performance environment under its own power.


    The golf buggy provided the underlying vehicle platform, including the basic propulsion, steering and braking functions required for controlled movement. Around this operational base, Evolution Scenic fabricated the boat structure using a combination of mild-steel framing, timber, plywood and fibreglass.


    A key part of the fabrication process was integrating the vehicle and the scenic boat body as one functional assembly. The finished scenic shell needed to conceal the recognisable golf-buggy form while maintaining access to the operating components and allowing the steering and braking systems to function effectively.


    Once completed, the transformed vehicle could move through the performance area as a convincing Arabian land-abra while retaining the practical control of the golf buggy beneath it. This approach combined scenic fabrication, structural integration and vehicle functionality to create a self-powered theatrical boat suitable for live performance.

    INTEGRATING STRUCTURE, MOVEMENT AND FINISH


    The land-abra demonstrated how the functional requirements of a moving scenic element directly influenced its construction. Unlike a static boat prop designed mainly around shape and appearance, the golf-buggy-based land-abra required careful coordination between its scenic form and its operational vehicle components.


    The supporting structure was developed using mild-steel framing, while timber and plywood formed much of the visible scenic body. Fibreglass was incorporated to create additional boat profiles and shaped details without depending entirely on heavier timber construction.


    Because the land-abra needed to move through the performance environment, the construction also required consideration of weight distribution, structural interfaces and access around the existing golf buggy. The supporting framework and scenic body therefore had to work together without restricting steering, braking or general vehicle operation.


    Scenic paint, textured coatings, timber staining and distressing were applied to visually unify the different construction materials into one convincing traditional boat form. The final result brought structure, movement and scenic finishing together as a single functional assembly, allowing the land-abra to maintain its theatrical appearance while operating reliably during the performance.

    ADAPTING THE PROPS DURING REHEARSALS


    Rehearsals became an important stage in refining the performance behaviour of the scenic pieces under actual show conditions. The uneven, sand-like performance surface affected how the wheeled market carts moved, responded and stopped during repeated use within the production environment.


    Evolution Scenic adjusted the carts by modifying and refining the caster wheels and manual braking arrangements. These changes improved control and allowed the carts to move more predictably across the textured floor while remaining suitable for performer interaction and carefully coordinated stage movement.


    The land-abra also required adjustments to its braking behaviour during rehearsals. Because the golf buggy was being used as a theatrical stage vehicle, its stopping and manoeuvring characteristics needed to work accurately with the movement patterns and timing required by the production.


    These rehearsal-based refinements helped ensure that the moving scenic elements performed reliably within the actual venue rather than only under workshop conditions. The process demonstrated the importance of testing mobility, braking and control on the final performance surface, where textured flooring, performer movement and precise stage cues could directly influence the behaviour of each scenic element.

    DELIVERING WITHIN A TWENTY-DAY PROGRAMME


    The Evolution Scenic scope was delivered within a confirmed 20-day programme, requiring close coordination across fabrication, finishing and production activities. Within this limited timeframe, multiple technical disciplines had to progress efficiently while maintaining the structural and scenic requirements of the Terhal performance elements.


    The six market carts required the fabrication of reinforced mild-steel frameworks, followed by the construction of timber-based scenic bodies and the application of specialist scenic finishes. Metal fabrication, carpentry, composite work and surface treatment therefore had to be carefully coordinated to keep each cart progressing through the workshop without unnecessary delays.


    The land-abra introduced an additional technical challenge because an operational golf buggy had to be integrated within a custom-built scenic boat structure. Steel framing, timber, plywood and fibreglass construction needed to be developed around the vehicle while maintaining its movement, steering and braking functions before the completed piece could enter rehearsals.


    Once completed, the scenic elements were delivered into the production environment for movement checks, rehearsal use and final operational adjustments. Floor protection formed part of the site requirements while moving and testing the substantial steel-framed pieces, helping ensure that installation and rehearsal activities could proceed efficiently throughout the 20-day delivery programme.

    PERFORMANCE SCENIC FABRICATION IN PRACTICE


    The Terhal project demonstrates the technical depth required to transform traditional-looking scenic objects into fully functional performance elements. What appeared on stage as familiar market carts and an Arabian boat incorporated engineered structures, moving systems and carefully developed scenic finishes beneath their visible surfaces.


    The six market carts combined mild-steel framing with plywood, MDF, timber and additional scenic materials to create strong performance structures suitable for direct physical interaction. Fibreglass, foam, fabric and acrylic were incorporated where required to develop shaped details while maintaining the intended visual character of the client-supplied concepts.


    The land-abra followed a similar approach by combining a functioning golf buggy with a custom scenic boat structure. Its construction needed to support steering, braking and controlled movement while the scenic body concealed the vehicle beneath and maintained the appearance of a traditional Arabian boat during the performance.


    Scenic painting, distressing, textured coatings and timber staining completed the visual transformation of the engineered assemblies. The finished result brought together custom scenic fabrication, structural engineering, mobility and specialist finishing, allowing the scenery to operate as an active and reliable part of the Terhal production rather than simply serving as a static background.

  • THA Stand Scenic Fabrication for Saudi Event Show 2024 in Riyadh

    Developing the Compact Scenic Architecture


    For the Saudi Event Show 2024, THA commissioned Evolution Scenic to design, fabricate and install a complete exhibition stand in Riyadh. The stand occupied a six-by-six-metre footprint and reached 2.5 metres in height, requiring the scenic architecture to make efficient use of the available 36-square-metre area while maintaining a strong visual presence within the exhibition hall.


    The layout needed to accommodate several practical functions within the same compact footprint. Digital displays, branded scenic surfaces, informal seating, meeting furniture and concealed storage all had to be integrated without restricting circulation or creating an enclosed environment. Rather than treating these requirements as separate additions, Evolution Scenic developed them as interconnected components of one coordinated temporary architecture.


    A three-fascia angular wall formed the principal internal structure. Its geometry created multiple usable elevations for screen integration, graphics, illuminated branding and seating functions, while also helping to organise the stand into distinct zones. Three freestanding illuminated pillars were positioned around the perimeter, providing vertical brand visibility while helping define the outer limits of the stand without relying on continuous wall construction.


    The entire environment was established on a customised raised platform, which created a consistent base for the scenic walls, pillars, furniture and circulation areas. The platform helped visually separate the THA stand from the surrounding exhibition floor while bringing the different fabricated elements together as one architectural composition.


    Maintaining openness was an important part of the spatial approach. Continuous perimeter walls could have reduced visibility and limited access from the surrounding aisles, so the stand instead used the angular central wall and individual pillars to create definition without forming enclosed boundaries. This allowed the finished environment to retain several open approaches while still presenting a clear and recognisable scenic identity.

    Fabricating the Three-Fascia Scenic Wall and Integrated Displays


    The principal scenic structure was developed as a triangular wall with three distinct visible fascias. This configuration allowed Evolution Scenic to create several functional elevations within a compact footprint, using one fabricated form to support digital displays, branding, seating and concealed storage.


    The first fascia incorporated a television screen mounted against a birch plywood slat panel. Concealed storage was integrated behind the same elevation, allowing the wall to perform both a visual and operational role. This fascia also formed the scenic backdrop to one of the seating areas, helping define the space without introducing an additional freestanding partition.


    The second fascia incorporated another television screen within a wall finished with vinyl graphics. By integrating the display directly into the scenic surface, the screen became part of the overall architectural composition rather than appearing as a separate technical element. The graphic finish also allowed the fascia to maintain a strong branded presence around the digital content.


    The third fascia continued the vinyl graphic treatment and incorporated an LED-lit THA sign as its primary focal point. This introduced a different visual function to the same structure, extending the brand identity across another viewing direction while maintaining consistency with the neighbouring elevations.


    Both television screens were built into the scenic wall system rather than positioned on freestanding monitor units. The screen mounted to the birch plywood slats was secured using a bracket holder, requiring accurate coordination between the mounting position and surrounding slat layout. Combining the displays, branding, seating and storage within one angular scenic structure also reduced the need for additional standalone elements within the limited floor area.

    Constructing the Birch Plywood Seating Backdrop


    Birch plywood slats formed one of the stand’s principal architectural finishes, introducing a warmer material character within the compact exhibition environment. The vertical slat arrangement created a repeated linear rhythm that contrasted clearly with the matt-black painted pillars and geometric vinyl graphics used elsewhere across the stand.


    The slatted fascia was developed as more than a decorative backdrop. It supported an integrated television screen, concealed an internal storage area and provided a finished architectural surface behind one of the stand’s seating zones.


    By combining these functions within a single fabricated wall, Evolution Scenic reduced the need for additional freestanding structures within the limited floor area. The concealed storage also allowed operational items to remain out of view while keeping the seating area visually clean and organised.


    The natural appearance of the birch plywood established a strong material relationship with the wood-effect PVC flooring applied across the raised platform. This helped connect the vertical and horizontal finishes and created a more unified scenic composition.


    The result was a multifunctional backdrop that combined joinery, display integration, concealed storage and seating definition within one coordinated architectural element.

    Engineering Illuminated Branding Pillars with Concealed Storage


    Three freestanding scenic pillars were fabricated around the perimeter of the THA Stand, helping define the outer edges of the exhibition environment without creating continuous walls. Their vertical form also provided strong branding points that could be viewed from different approaches across the exhibition floor.


    Each pillar was finished in matt-black paint and incorporated LED-lit THA signage. The contrast between the dark scenic finish and illuminated branding increased the visual prominence of the pillars while maintaining consistency with the wider material palette of the stand.


    Two pillar configurations were produced. One Type One pillar incorporated illuminated THA signage across two faces, while two Type Two pillars carried illuminated branding across three faces to increase visibility from multiple viewing directions.


    The pillars were also developed as functional storage structures. Internal storage units were concealed behind push-pull latch access doors integrated into the finished surfaces, allowing the doors to remain visually discreet within the overall scenic construction.


    Combining branding and storage within the same fabricated elements improved the efficiency of the limited stand footprint. It allowed Evolution Scenic to provide practical operational storage without introducing additional freestanding cupboards that could have reduced circulation, seating or meeting space.

    Constructing the Raised Platform and Ramped Access


    The complete THA Stand was established on a customised plywood platform, creating a defined base for the scenic walls, illuminated pillars, seating and furniture. The raised floor also helped distinguish the exhibition environment from the surrounding venue surface and provided a consistent foundation across the six-by-six-metre footprint.


    Wood-effect PVC flooring was installed across the upper surface of the platform. The finish introduced a warmer material tone that complemented the birch plywood slat wall and helped visually connect the principal scenic elements across the stand.


    Two ramps were incorporated on opposite sides of the platform, providing access from more than one exhibition aisle. This arrangement supported movement into and across the stand while reducing reliance on a single entry point.


    Corner guards were fitted to the exposed platform edges to protect vulnerable areas and provide a cleaner transition between the raised scenic floor and the surrounding exhibition surface.


    The platform therefore functioned as an integrated part of the scenic construction rather than simply a decorative floor finish, coordinating the stand footprint, access routes, edge protection and final surface treatment within one fabricated base.

    Coordinating Scenic Finishes, Graphics and Furniture


    The completed THA Stand used a controlled combination of natural timber tones, matt-black scenic finishes, geometric graphics and selective illumination. These materials were coordinated to give the compact environment a clear visual identity while maintaining consistency across the different fabricated elements.


    The perimeter pillars were finished in matt-black paint, creating a strong contrast with the illuminated THA signage. Birch plywood introduced a warmer natural finish to the principal seating and screen backdrop, while the wood-effect PVC flooring extended related tones across the raised platform.


    Two fascias of the triangular scenic wall were finished with vinyl graphics. The angular graphic treatment reinforced the geometry of the structure and helped connect the branded surfaces with the wider architectural composition. LED illumination was concentrated on the THA signage within the pillars and the principal branded wall, creating focused visual accents rather than illuminating every surface.


    Furniture was positioned within the open areas created by the scenic layout. Seating against the birch plywood backdrop established a defined meeting zone, while additional seating and tables occupied the more open sections of the platform without interrupting the principal circulation routes.


    Because concealed storage was incorporated within both the perimeter pillars and the central scenic structure, operational items could remain out of view. This allowed the visible floor area to remain focused on seating, interaction and circulation while keeping the overall stand composition clean and organised.

    Installing and Completing the Temporary Exhibition Environment


    Evolution Scenic handled the installation of the complete THA Stand in Riyadh, bringing together the fabricated scenic elements, integrated displays, graphics, lighting and furniture within the fixed six-by-six-metre footprint.


    The customised plywood platform established the base for the installation, with the two access ramps, three-fascia scenic wall and freestanding illuminated pillars positioned to maintain the intended circulation and open approach from the surrounding exhibition aisles. Accurate setting-out was important to ensure the individual scenic elements aligned correctly within the compact stand layout.


    The television mounting brackets required precise positioning within the scenic wall surfaces so that both screens integrated cleanly with the surrounding finishes. At the same time, the push-pull access doors within the illuminated storage pillars needed sufficient clearance to remain fully functional once the furniture and seating elements were positioned.


    Electrical connections for the LED-lit THA signage were coordinated within the fabricated structures without disrupting the matt-black painted surfaces or vinyl graphic finishes. The completed installation brought scenic joinery, digital displays, illuminated branding, concealed storage, seating and raised flooring together as one coordinated temporary environment.


    The angular wall consolidated several display and operational functions within a single scenic structure, while the perimeter pillars combined brand visibility with concealed storage. Together with the continuous wood-effect flooring and opposing access ramps, these elements created a compact exhibition stand in which scenic fabrication, architectural finishes, screen integration and spatial planning worked as one cohesive construction.

  • LIV Golf Riyadh Scenic Entrance And Interactive Installations

    Building The LIV Golf Riyadh Scenic Environment


    LIV Golf Riyadh took place at Riyadh Golf Club from 6 to 8 February 2025. The project required a series of temporary scenic structures designed to establish a consistent physical identity across the entrance, wayfinding areas and interactive installations, while supporting the scale and energy of the wider event environment.


    Evolution Scenic developed the detailed scenic package from a client-supplied concept, translating the creative direction into a coordinated fabrication and installation scope. The confirmed works included the main entrance cladding, dimensional logos, integrated lightboxes, striped floor treatment, a two-metre rotating golf-ball sculpture and its circular platform, a six-metre Range sign, an illuminated IBC maze and the complete nineteenth-hole putting installation.


    Rather than relying on a single scenic feature, the environment used several different forms of construction and fabrication. The main entrance operated as a large-scale piece of temporary architecture, combining structural framing, cladding, illuminated branding and graphic finishes. The golf ball functioned as a large-format automated scenic prop, while the Range tower introduced height and illuminated wayfinding within the wider site.


    The IBC maze used repeated modular containers to create an immersive walkthrough environment, with integrated lighting transforming the units into illuminated scenic walls. Within the maze, the putting installation added an interactive component that combined scenic fabrication, artificial-grass surfaces, dimensional branding and integrated lighting.


    Each element required a different combination of materials, fabrication techniques and installation methods, but all were coordinated through the same graphic, lighting and finishing language. This allowed the separate structures to read as one connected scenic environment across Riyadh Golf Club.

    Transforming A Scaffold Into A Scenic Entrance


    The entrance began with a supplied scaffolding structure, which provided the primary temporary support but needed to be fully concealed within the finished scenic design. Evolution Scenic installed a secondary framework using aluminium rectangular tube, creating the required planes for the scenic facade while establishing secure fixing positions for the ACP panels, dimensional logos, lightboxes and other visible details. This approach allowed the underlying scaffold geometry to be transformed into a clean and controlled architectural entrance.


    The entrance needed to read as a deliberate architectural elevation rather than as cladding applied to a temporary frame. Careful panel setting-out ensured the ACP surfaces aligned around the two entrance openings and provided a consistent background for the illuminated line details and large-scale branding. Dimensional LIV Golf lettering occupied the upper section of the facade, with the Riyadh identification positioned below, while additional logos and illuminated graphic elements were integrated across the front elevation and around the entrance openings.


    The scenic treatment continued beyond the vertical entrance structure and onto the approach surface. A striped floor treatment was matched to the client’s specified Pantone colours, extending the visual identity across the complete arrival experience. By combining the scaffold support, aluminium secondary framing, ACP cladding, dimensional branding and integrated lighting, Evolution Scenic created a coordinated temporary architectural installation in which the structural and decorative elements worked together as a single finished environment.

    Fabricating And Engineering The Rotating Golf-Ball Sculpture


    A two-metre branded golf ball formed the principal sculptural feature in front of the entrance. The sphere was fabricated from CNC-machined foam, allowing the overall shape and repeated dimple pattern to be produced with consistent geometry across the large surface. Following machining, the foam form received a fibreglass coating, creating the finished outer shell and preparing it for the final scenic finish and applied LIV Golf branding.


    The golf ball was designed as a moving scenic feature rather than a static prop. Evolution Scenic designed and fabricated the rotation mechanism, developing the sculpture, central shaft, mounting arrangement and supporting structure as connected components. The system needed to support the completed sphere while maintaining a controlled rotational axis, with the visible mounting elements kept visually secondary to the sculptural form.


    The completed golf ball was mounted vertically within a custom circular platform positioned in front of the entrance. Artificial grass, painted finishes and dimensional branding helped integrate the base into the wider golf-themed environment while defining the moving feature within the arrival area. The finished installation brought together CNC fabrication, fibreglass finishing, scenic engineering and controlled movement to create a prominent kinetic focal point for the entrance.

    Turning IBC Units Into Scenic Architecture


    The IBC maze used 1,000-litre intermediate bulk container units as its main construction module.

    Rather than concealing the industrial containers, the installation used their visible grid frames and translucent tanks as part of the scenic appearance.


    The units were arranged into long walls, internal routes and stacked tower forms. Their repeated size gave the installation a consistent construction rhythm and allowed larger masses to be created from a standard component.


    This approach transformed individual storage containers into a temporary architectural system.

    The maze was not dependent on applied graphics alone. Its primary visual effect came from the relationship between the modular units, their stacking arrangement and the light transmitted through their translucent surfaces.


    Evolution Scenic supplied the custom LED system used across the maze. Resolume control enabled colour changes and programmed effects to operate across the complete installation.

    Lighting therefore changed the visual reading of the same physical structure without requiring the container arrangement itself to move.


    During daylight, the maze remained visibly constructed from IBC units. At night, the illuminated tanks formed connected fields of colour, turning the industrial components into scenic lightboxes.

    Integrating The Nineteenth-Hole Putting Feature


    The interactive putting installation was positioned within the IBC environment as a dedicated playable feature within the wider scenic experience. Its main scenic form consisted of a circular illuminated portal reached by an artificial-grass ramp. Raised side structures defined the playing route and helped guide participants towards the target, while layered coloured finishes and integrated lighting gave the piece a strong visual identity that connected with the surrounding illuminated maze.


    A dimensional nineteenth-hole sign occupied the top of the portal, with a smaller golf-ball detail incorporated into the centre of the sign. The combination of dimensional branding, lighting and shaped scenic construction helped establish the feature as a focal point while maintaining a clear connection to the golf theme.


    The artificial-grass playing surface continued directly through the circular opening, creating a strong relationship between the scenic form and the putting activity itself. This meant the structure could not be developed purely as a decorative backdrop. Its geometry had to preserve a practical and visually clear route towards the target while keeping the portal, side walls, lighting details and dimensional signage balanced as one complete composition.


    Together, the fabricated portal, illuminated side details, artificial-grass surface and dimensional signage formed a single integrated interactive installation, combining scenic fabrication with participant engagement inside the wider LIV Golf Riyadh environment.

    Fabricating The Six-Metre Range Feature


    The Range sign provided a separate vertical marker within the wider site, helping define the area through a combination of height, dimensional branding and integrated illumination.


    Its primary support was a six-metre-high scaffold tower. Evolution Scenic added the scenic branding and fully DMX-controlled lightbox, creating a high-level illuminated feature that could remain visually prominent and legible after dark. The sign used dimensional lettering rather than relying only on a printed banner, giving the installation greater depth and allowing the illuminated letterforms to stand out more clearly within the night-time environment.


    As with the main entrance, the structural support and scenic finish needed to operate as a coordinated assembly. Fixing positions, access for lighting installation, cable routing and final sign alignment all depended on the geometry of the scaffold tower. The six-metre height also introduced additional installation considerations, making wind loading, secure fixing and scaffold certification important parts of the overall delivery.


    The completed feature combined temporary scaffold engineering with dimensional scenic fabrication and controlled lighting, creating a strong vertical landmark that complemented the wider LIV Golf Riyadh visual environment.

    Coordinating Materials And Custom Scenic Fabrication


    The project used a broad material palette selected to suit the structural, visual and interactive requirements of each element. Steel and aluminium provided framing and secondary support, while MDF, plywood and painted timber were used for shaped scenic components, platforms and custom-built features. ACP formed the clean external surfaces of the main entrance, while acrylic and polycarbonate supported illuminated details and light-diffusing elements.


    CNC-machined foam and fibreglass were used for the two-metre rotating golf-ball sculpture, while vinyl graphics, printed panels and artificial grass helped carry the LIV Golf visual identity across the site. Evolution Scenic also fabricated a freestanding illuminated logo using a steel-framed structure with an acrylic lightbox, along with custom plywood truss-base covers finished with paint and printed fabric banners.


    The VIP seating area was designed and fabricated with a custom raised platform, carpet finish, coordinated seating and a perimeter handrail. Within the IBC maze, the 1,000-litre units provided both modular structure and illuminated scenic surfaces, with their steel cages and translucent tanks becoming part of the final visual treatment.

    Delivering A Complete Outdoor Scenic Environment


    The confirmed programme covered approximately one month of fabrication and installation. The outdoor setting required the project to account for weather exposure, wind loading and certified scaffold systems while coordinating multiple scenic structures across Riyadh Golf Club.


    At the entrance, the supplied scaffold provided the primary support before Evolution Scenic installed the aluminium secondary frame, ACP cladding, dimensional branding, lightboxes and illuminated details. The rotating golf-ball feature required the positioning of its circular platform, mechanical system and two-metre sculpture, while the six-metre Range structure combined scaffold support, dimensional branding and DMX-controlled illumination.


    The IBC maze was assembled from repeated 1,000-litre units before the custom LED system was installed and connected through Resolume control. The nineteenth-hole putting feature, freestanding illuminated logo, VIP seating platform and custom truss-base covers were also installed as part of the wider scenic environment.


    Wind loading, weather protection and scaffold certification were confirmed considerations, particularly for the entrance facade, Range tower, freestanding lightbox, stacked IBC units and rotating golf-ball sculpture. Following the tournament, the complete temporary scenic installation was dismantled.


    The finished environment brought together temporary architecture, sculptural fabrication, mechanical movement, illuminated branding and interactive construction. From the ACP-clad entrance and rotating golf ball to the IBC maze, putting feature, VIP seating area and supporting branded elements, the project demonstrated how multiple scenic disciplines could be coordinated into one unified LIV Golf Riyadh experience.
